Elevate Sugarcane Decaf
Light Roast
Colombia
Honeycrisp Apple, Raw Sugar, Clean Finish
A decaf in a class all it’s own! We’re excited to offer this coffee which is so much more than you are used to from a decaf. First, this is a single origin bean, decaffeinated at its source in Colombia. What “elevates” this coffee to a new level is the processing method. “Sugarcane decaf” is a process by which the coffee is conditioned only with alternating washes of water and an organic compound derived from sugarcane molasses called ethyl acetate. Sugarcane processing avoids the exposure to excessive heat, pressure, or non-naturally-derived solvents associated with other decaffeination processes. Thus, it leaves intact more of the intrinsic flavor that the smallholders at origin have worked so hard to develop.
Medium-bodied and with low acidity, this coffee packs a flavorful punch up front with malic red apple and rich sweetness that makes this roaster think of freshly picked honeycrisps from his brother’s farm in New Hampshire. This flavor stays pretty consistent throughout the sip with an unrefined sugar sweetness and, in a strong brew, a bit of juicy red apple in the mid. An extremely clean-finishing cup, the sip clears the tongue quickly leaving little aftertaste.
