We are husband and wife team, roasting coffee in Maynard, Massachusetts. We specialize in single origin, farm-direct specialty coffee prepared “roast-to-order”. That means individual batches roasted when you order and just for you!
We love coffee: it means so much to not just the people who drink it, but the people who make it. We aim to be part of a chain of responsibility, sharing, and genuine passion that brings the coffee from its origin to your cup. As roasters, our job is to be the connection between coffee farms and the people who want to experience their product.
As coffee drinkers, we love exploring everything this amazing seed can offer. From fruity and bright light roasts to rich and heady dark roasts, there are so many ways to make a delicious cup of coffee. We want to share what we've learned and what we've made. My name is James and I am the Head Roaster for Rail Trail Roasters. I have a passion for expressing my creativity through the art of roasting and brewing coffee. I am continuously surprised and delighted by the amount there is to know and learn about coffee. The more I learn, the more I’ve come to view bringing a bean from its origin to your brewer as an exercise in self-expression for a roaster. From getting to know farmers, to selection of a responsible importer, to getting to know the bean itself and how I choose to represent its intrinsic flavor in my roast, I share what coffee means to me with the people who drink it. I am so excited at the prospect of sharing my roasted coffee with others and hopefully bringing the same joy that I experience with my morning cup to all of my customers.
